Feb 1 - May 25 The Get Fit Highlands Challenge
Launched by the Highlands Initiative Health Care Committee, the goal of the Get Fit Highlands Challenge is to create awareness of the importance of physical fitness in our daily lives.

The challenge is open and teams can be formed from any area business, church or organization. Each team member will be challenged to participate in some form of physical activity for 30 minutes each day, five days a week.

Feb 4 Cookeville History Museum presents "Youthful Expressions: An Art Exhibit"
The Cookeville History Museum is located at 40 East Broad St., Cookeville. There will be an opening reception on Feb 4 from 1-3 p.m. The exhibit will be on display until March 26 and includes any medium of art work done by local youth ages Preschool to 17. Feb 7 Tennessee Tech University’s Cumberland Quintet FREE Concert
7:30 PM
The concert will feature a wide variety of musical styles for the wind quintet, including jazz by Louis Armstrong and works by August Klughardt, Francis Poulenc and TTU professor emeritus Robert Jager.

The quintet features TTU music professors Wonkak Kim on clarinet, Roger Martin on flute, James Lotz on bassoon, William Woodworth on oboe and Jeremy Hansen on horn. Guest pianist Bryan Louiselle, who has composed soundtracks for a variety of network shows and documentaries, will join them for the Poulenc piece.

Feb 9 The 2012 A Woman’s Heart Event

The evening will hold a live and silent auction, hors d’oeuvres, wine and other beverages, a fashion show, a presentation by cardiologist Dr. Scott Reising on heart attack and stroke preventative services, a gift bag for each attendee and wonderful motivational speaker Dale Smith Thomas.
Advanced registration required. The cost is $25 per person to attend. Proceeds from registration and the auction will be used to raise awareness for women’s heart health and to support the Heart fund through the CRMC Foundation.

The event will be held at the Clarion Hotel. The night will include a silent auction, hors d'oerves, dinner buffet, live auction, music and dancing.

Tickets are $70 per person and $550 for a reserved table of eight. Proceeds from the event go directly to Genesis House, a non-profit agency, dedicated to helping victims of domestic and sexual violence. Must be 21 to attend. Hotel rooms are available at the Clarion for a special rate of $59.95.
